Edward W. Erkel (85), formerly of Mt. Washington died peacefully on December 13, 2020. Ed was born to Mary and Frank Erkel . He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Joanne (Baccelli) Erkel and father to their four children, Edward, R. Todd Erkel, Marybeth(John) Dalessandro and Amy (Angelo)Gnazzo. Loving Pap to six grandchildren: Briana Unger (Adam Bush). Caitlin (Pat)Lucas, Mia Dalessandro, Remy Erkel, Cade, and Carson Gnazzo. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren, MaKenna, Gabrielle, Jaxon, Jonathon, Brody and August. Ed is also survived by his brother Frank (Connie) Erkel. Ed enjoyed a long
career as a Trailways driver. In the mid-1960's, Ed operated a chartered Trailways bus transporting the Motortown Revue, the name given to the package concert tours of Motown's top artists. After more than a decade as a driver, Ed led the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1133. Ed operated one of
Pittsburgh's first full-service food trucks at the corner of Lothrop and Terrace in Oakland. Ed lived a full life and will be missed dearly. Service will be private:
