Peacefully at home, on June 27, 2020, surrounded by family and friends, Paul Marraway died after a courageous battle for more than six years with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) at the age of 69. Also, brother-in-law of Eileen (Patrick) McMahon, Joanne (Frank) Porter, Liz Pascarella and Jeanie (Ray) Cygrymus. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paul was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School and the University of Pittsburgh where he received a B.A. in Administration of Justice. He started his career in law enforcement with the University of Pittsburgh Police Department. In 1978, he joined the Pittsburgh Police Force as a patrolman and retired in 1999 as a Sergeant in charge of the city's Homicide Squad, overseeing 18 detectives. During his career with the City of Pittsburgh, he worked in all facets of law enforcement including uniform patrol, plainclothes, narcotics, vice investigations, auto thefts and others. He then went on to work for the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office where he investigated large scale narcotics and traditional organized crime activities. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and commendations, including a City of Pittsburgh Mayoral Commendation for Homicide Investigation, a citation and medal for Meritorious Service as well as the Humanitarian Award from the Guardians of Greater Pittsburgh. He was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Paul was known to many of his friends and family as "The Butler" due to his physical stature, hospitality, and gregarious personality. He loved fishing, scuba diving, boating and history. Above all, he enjoyed spending time in Florida and Pittsburgh with his family and friends. A special thank you to Tom Roell, Billy Barger, Charlie Morrison and all of the "Wednesday Night Crew" for their lifelong friendships and to his compassionate and devoted caregiver, Debbie Jenkins.
