Helen Rose Popivchak (nee Zagorsky) passed away peacefully at her home in Scott Twp., surrounded by family on November 20th at the age of 96. She was born September 3rd, 1924, in Bridgeville as the first child of the late Michael and Anna (Waypa) Zagorsky, raised in Carnegie, and was a Scott resident for the last 56 years. She married her High School sweetheart, John Popivchak, on October 5th, 1947, and together they raised five children. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She loved God and her church, and was a member of the Apostleship of Prayer and a "Pyhori Lady" for many years. She and John enjoyed traveling, visiting the Holy Land, Fatima, Lourdres, and Alaska, among other places. She will be greatly missed, but those who loved and adored her are comforted knowing that she is now in the Lord's care with her beloved husband of 61 years who preceded her. She is survived by her children, David (Rochelle) Popivchak, Carol (John) Besspiata, Robert (Carolyn) Popivchak, Mark Popivchak and Dennis (Colleen) Popivchak; grandchildren, Justin (Ameera) Besspiata, Kristen (Dave) Bucar, Caitlin (Jonathan) Smith, John (Erika) Popivchak, Rachel, Courtney, Sarah and Jessica Popivchak; great-grandchildren, Maya, Aria and Kya Besspiata; sister, Jean Daniels; sister-in-law, Rose Zagorsky; niece, Kathy Popivchak; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Maranich and brother, Walter Zagorsky.
