Condolence & Memory Journal

I cannot express my feelings when trying to notify Alex about my husband Miklos Gyimesi's passing, to find out that He has passed, too... Heartfelt condolences from Zsuzsanna, on behalf of the Gyimesi family.

I had several memorable meals at Josza's Corner, including my 70th birthday party in 2015. Alex served my group of 12 with flair and grace. He even sang to me in Hungarian! My Dad, whose parents came to Pittsburgh from Hungary in 1912, enjoyed meeting Alex. They slapped each other on the back like long lost cousins. RIP.

Dear Jennifer and Family, we were so saddened by hearing of your loss. We hope you find peace in knowing how his life has made an impact on many of others. Józsa Corner, his food, hospitality, and friendship were all a little bit of home away from home for us. He will be missed dearly. Our thoughts are with you and your family. With sympathy, Zita, Sean, Soren

I have known Alex for over 50 years. He was a real force of nature: a vibrant personality, an ebullient and generous friend, and a wonderful host at Jozsa Corner, where we shared his delicious food and company. He will be sadly missed. To Jennifer and the family I send my deep condolences and my wish for healing and peace. I will never forget him.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Alex. Our family had the pleasure of dining with Alex several times. We loved his food, we loved his hospitality and WE LOVED HIS STORIES!
We loved all the photos and history behind each one.

My deepest sympathy to Alex's family and friends! Alex was such a warm and interesting person. And, of course, a wonderful cook. One could never just stop by to get something to eat. It was always an enjoyable event!
He will be dearly missed! Isten veled, Alex!

Alex was a man that took all of us to a better place for having known him. The amazing spirit he had made your day better. I visited as often as I could to treat myself to both his company and the ultra-delicious cuisine. I had the privilege of assisting Alex in preparing food for his wedding! May God hold and keep his family close and bless them as Alex is watching! The memories will forever live in our hearts!

So thankful to have met Alex while working in Hazelwood where his restaurant is located. He was an engaged and active community member, and was a wonderful host each time I visited his restaurant. I was lucky enough to receive a quick business call from him a couple weeks ago after not hearing much for a year, and we shared our mutual admiration for one another and shared a laugh. I will savor that brief call for a long time. Alex will be sorely missed, he was truly one of a kind.

I had passed the restaurant many times and told my girls, some day I want to have dinner there! I was blessed that in 2018 they surprised me with a birthday dinner at Jozsa Hungarian Corner! Such a wonderful experience and dinner. I am forever grateful. May Alex have eternal memory and his family and friends find peace in knowing the joy he brought to many.
