So sorry for you loss, Marcia.
Alan was such a pleasure to be around. I mean the kind of person who made people smile and laugh just being around him. He definitely brought the sunshine. I'll miss seeing him.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Cohen in 1973-74 for Sociology of Asia class...what and amazing teacher! Plus, he gave me the recipe for Devonshires which I still enjoy!
My deepest sympathy.

Condolences to the Cohen family. I was Mr. Cohen's student at Allderdice in 2000-2001. I loved the Newscasts that we did every Friday, when a group of students would deliver the news of the week. Most of all, I loved Morning Detention, which Mr. Cohen assigned me often for being tardy. I realize Mr. Cohen did not mean for it to be fun, but I enjoyed the opportunity to grill his student teacher all about what student teaching and college were like. Now, I am a teacher myself. Lots of gratitude and best wishes for your family.

I'm saddened to hear we lost Mr Cohen... was one of the cool teachers in Duquesne Senior High School. I graduated in 75' and so remember his block of teachers. Every morning he, and his buds, including Ohler, and Proksa would happily greet all students. The young teachers at that time breaking through to a new way for educational journey. I wish I could've shared with him, his success in our lives. Travel safely with God Mr Cohen...knowing you did good for all of us ✝❤

Alan was such a wonderful human being. He was my birthday twin. I will miss our goofy conversations about needing a passport to come see me in the North Hills. My his memory be a blessing.

I shared many good times and have fond memories of my friend and neighbor. We played golf many times in those early years in Lebo. My children grew up with Jeremy and we all spent time together. Alan had a great sense of humor and was a good friend. I am sad to say we lost touch in later years but the memories will not fade of those early days on Driftwood Drive. He surely will be missed by all.
My deepest sympathies to Marcia and the family.

I had Mr. Cohen for World History in 2004-2005. His innovative teaching style was original, encouraged learning, and always was appreciated by us a rather tough accomplishment for high school students.

I'll always remember how kind and intelligent and helpful he was, and how much he truly cared about his students.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

You don't know us, Marcia, but my husband, Ed, and I were long time gym friends of Alan's. It was with EXTREME sadness that we learned of his death.

I first met Alan at "Bally's" in the late 80s or sometime in the 90s, I believe. There were a group of "regulars" who were friendly. Alan and I quickly learned that we had mutual friends -well, actually, the Paranskys are first cousins as well as friends- and we knew of the special relationship between Jeremy and Noam. When the new LAFitness was built in Bridgeville, we continued our gym friendship and my husband joined us - often spinning together. (I regret that I never saw Alan engaged in Zumba!). Alan and I always talked about family and I knew how happy he was when Jeremy returned to Pittsburgh.

There was a period of time when I did not see him at the gym and I learned through the grapevine that he had been ill. When he returned, Ed and I were elated. "Alan's Back!!!!"

Alan was such a kind, sweet spirit. He was such a pleasure to be around. He will be in our hearts every time we walk into any LAFitness.

"Life is eternal and Love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon,
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight."

With deepest sympathy,

Uncle Alan was always there for daughters' triumphs - recitals, breakfast with someone special, birthdays and holidays. His laughter is what we will remember the most along with his great stories. Our daughters remember fondly Alan fixing their bikes, shooting hoops, chalking in the driveway and always ready with a warm hug. Will miss him terribly.
